Binary Emotions

Binary Emotions is a body of work in which emotion is encoded through structure. Using binary code, zero and one, as a visual language, the series translates words, states, and feelings into ordered systems of blocks and lines.

What appears to be strict logic is, in fact, always inhabited by emotion.

The series combines painting and sculpture through geometric constructions, using volume to distinguish ones and zeros. Dozens of wooden blocks are aligned in precise sequences, forming messages that are not immediately legible. The words exist beneath the surface, hidden from the naked eye.

Binary is simple. Emotions are complex.

In a world increasingly defined by polarisation and binary thinking, this work proposes nuance. Even within a system built on only two values, there are countless ways to express thought, feeling, and emotion.
